Speak your work instead of typing it
StetPro lets you develop your own work by talking it through. It writes down what you said, keeps that record, and gives you a tidied version you can read back and carry on with.
It does not write your work for you. The ideas and the words are yours, and the record of what you said is kept alongside the finished version.
Speak instead of starting with a blank page
Talking through an idea is often quicker than writing the first version of it. You open a recording, say what you want to say, and watch the words appear as you go. You can pause, carry on, and add further sections to the same piece of work later.
That can help when getting started is the hard part, when typing keeps interrupting your train of thought, when spelling slows drafting down, or when using a keyboard or writing by hand is difficult. Some students simply think more clearly out loud.
Speaking is not automatically easier than typing, and it will not suit every task. It is another way in.
Your words are recorded
When you speak, StetPro creates a raw transcript. That transcript is the record of what you actually said, and it stays as it was captured — you do not edit it afterwards. If you need to correct or explain something, you add a separate clarification, which is clearly marked as added after the recording.
The raw transcript is kept with the work. Whether the original audio is stored, and for how long, depends on the settings of the account or institution you are using StetPro through.
Formatting, not rewriting
Speech does not arrive with punctuation. The formatting step deals with presentation so the text is readable, and it stops there.

- Punctuation you dictate, such as saying “full stop”
What it does not do
- It does not correct your grammar
- It does not change your ideas
- It does not paraphrase or reword you
- It does not swap in better vocabulary
- It does not make your writing sound more academic
- It does not rewrite your sentences
Your substantive wording stays yours. If you said something awkwardly, the formatted version says it the same way.

You can read the raw transcript and the formatted version side by side, so you can check exactly what the formatting step did. The finished version does not replace the original record; both are kept.
Carry on with your work
Your work is not trapped inside StetPro. You can export a transcript as Word (.docx), PDF or plain text, or copy the text straight out, and continue in whichever program you normally use.
Where a recording was stored, you can also download the original audio of your own work. Exporting does not change what StetPro has kept.
Who can see my work?
Your work is yours. Staff at an institution do not automatically get to browse everybody’s recordings and transcripts.
Exactly what is retained, and who is responsible for it, depends on whether you use StetPro through an institution or as an individual. The sets out the detail.
Why keep the original?
Most finished documents say nothing about how they were made. If a question is ever raised about a piece of work, that leaves you with little more than your word for it.
Because StetPro keeps the raw transcript, the formatted version and, where stored, the recording, there is something from the process itself to point to. This is evidence about how the work developed. It is not a guarantee or a formal proof of authorship, but it is a good deal more useful than nothing.
Support without being singled out
Speech is another route into written work, and plenty of students use it for plenty of reasons. Using it should not cost you the evidence that the work is your own.
